wanna play some Arimaa? Great. The Arimaa gameroom is the place to be.
Click here enter your email in the new players box on the left, press enter. Your gameroom account details will be emailed to you.
When you get them, use them to login with the box on the right.
Your first port of call should probably be the bot ladder. This is a ladder you must climb by playing increasing tougher computer opponents.
go to 'play now' on the left menu and click 'bot ladder', on the ladder page click the 'Play Now' link in the center to challenge a bot. The board will open. press start. setup. send.
If you win the game you'll see your place rise on the ladder page and be able to challenge higher level bots.
The human players online are shown on the right. If they have a small green 'i' next to their names you can click that to challenge them to a live game.
click on the 'i' next to your name to toggle your invite status on or off. green means other players can invite you, red means you don't want to be invited.
There are two ways to play Arimaa in the gameroom, one is live games, one is postal.
Postal is exactly the same as live, except the time for each move is hours rather than seconds. Usually postal games are played at a slower speed, but there is nothing to stop you from playing your moves faster. Sometimes postal games are nice even if you want to play live, because they take any time pressure away, and if one player has to leave the game can continue when they return.
Postal games between top players are great to study because you can be sure they don't contain blunders and usually they have analyzed the position in great detail. See also One vs the Mob team games.
