Adanac x hanzack, after 17s (Gold to move)

Game started by EHH against emh fight, where hanzack allowed the horse to be flipped to the hostage basket, and blocked the gold Elephant on g5. At 13s hanzack blundered the cat. At 17g Greg decided to exchange his two Dogs for the hanzack's horse and rabbit. He probably need not hurry and he could safe the c3 Dog. After hanzack captured the first Dog, Greg changed mind and rather to planned Rc5 captured the b6 rabbit (see the diagram). hanzack went for the west attack hostaging gold caMel on the following move. Greg captured the g4 horse and hanzack goal attacked and protected the f5 dog. hanzack captured the Dog on 21s and retaken caMel hostage next turn. Greg solved the problem with the goal attack, but he cannot saved the caMel attacked next turn. Greg captured the eastern dog and was forced to hostage horse on west. hanzack got time to rotate camel for dog to create strongest free piece on east and slowly got game under controll. At 36s hanzack traded his hostaged horse for the Greg's fresh one. That was devastating as he got the other Horse hostaged at that time. I don't understand the push of the Hostaged horse to g8 at 40s. At 41g Greg attacked the silver cat by flipping it to e4. It seems to me flipping to f5 was OK, but flip to e4 was losing. It allowed silver rabbit advance to d2 thanks to mutual unfreezing. There was no piece which could be put behind the rabbit so the goal attack was dangerous. There could be defense in the case no other rabbit could join the attack, but there were f7 rabbit ready. Greg stopped the goal next turn and created his own threat. But the threat was not strong enough. There was two step defense allowing two attacking steps forcing goal next turn. hanzack won by goal on 43s still remaining the only player winning in each round of the turnament.

rabbits x Simon, after 38g (Silver to move)

Both players played with their last "life" in the turnament. Game started with the EHHxemh fight allowing Gregory to pull Simon's rabbit, but Simon managed to leave with elephant from the east defense at time to freeze both gold caMel and Horse on west. Gregory attacked the h3 horse, but ended on g3 rather to h4. The variant with horse escaping to h2 would probably end with the simillar exchange and it looked more risky for silver. Simon chosen not to do that, so ending on g3 was good choice of Gregory allowing the gold Elephant to end on f4 rather to g3 after the capture. The difference was probably in the tempo. Played exchange allowed Gregory to pull the a5 rabbit to a4 hiding his own caMel under it. Next turn the b4 rabbit separated the silver elephant from the gold caMel. The rabbit frame at 14g seemed to be premature. The rabbit on b4 was pinning the silver elephant at d3 as well. Preventing the c2 rabbit pull by it's replacement by the d2 dog harassing the silver camel was probably better decision. The frame resulted in caMel for horse and rabbit trade, freeing elephant from its guarding duty. The trade was not immediate and the dogs joined the trade. Simon lost rabbit on 28g, gaining Dog hostage for revange. But due to goal attack Simon had to let the hostaged Dog go. Gregory managed to separate his Horse from Simon's camel so the quality advantage was nullified. Gregory advanced his rabbits on 32g rather to delaying e5 rabbit capture. That was good decision as the rabbit going through c6 become serious threat. This would not be that strong threat without the Dog on a6. Simon was able to defend the goal, but he remained with elephant burried under the swarm of gold Rabbits. Gregory rotated his Elephant out of the swarm at 38g just in time to defend the goal attack comming on east (see the diagram). Simon tried to rescue the elephant from c6 trap guarding at 38s, but it lead to the dog loss and even stronger goal attack there. Gregory managed to goal at 44g. So Simon become second eliminated player from the turnament.

Nombril x ocmiente, after 34g (Silver to move)

This game was "survival" fight for Thomas, while Eric had two "lives" remaining in the turnament. Game started with careful maneuvering. At 17g Eric made first irrevertible move by pulling rabbit to g6. Next irrevertible move was the rabbit pull to h5 on 21g. At 26s Thomas allowed gold caMel to retake horse hostage from the Elephant. Eric secured the hostage by rabbit flip to g4. He managed to made c6 capture threats faster than Thomas secured the f3 trap. He managed to put rabbit as the third trap controller to b6 what forced capture next turn (see the diagram). After the cat was captured Eric made wall of 7 rank silver rabbits to hold controll of c6 longer. Thomas sacrified next rabbit to regain the trap controll (and not losing the b5 horse). Eric rather than attacking the b5 horse sent a Dog to the c6 trap fight. Thomas advanced with the horse to b4 voluntarily so Eric spent the 3 steps to pull it to c4. He managed to put the Dog to d6 at the same turn. Next turn Eric framed the c6 rabbit with the b6 rabbit having open path to goal. Thomas had to sacrify the framed rabbit to defend the goal. Next turn Eric again combined the goal threat with horse capture threat. Thomas prevented the capture and Eric advanced with the rabbit to c7. The rabbit was unstopable and goaled next turn (at 43g). That eliminated Thomas from the turnament and awarded bye to hanzack.

Fritzlein x chessandgo, after 42g (Silver to move)

Carefull maneuvering at the openning won Karl as at 10s Jean let the silver horse on a4 ready for being taken hostage by gold caMel. The capture threat on east was not fast enough to compensate (see the diagram). Jean got Rabbit and cat frame in the f3 trap, but lost horse and dog in the c3 trap. The positional advantage of the f3 trap controll compensated big part of loses as Karl needed a lot of time to solve the f3 problem. Jean had time to capture the gold Horse meanwhile. The fact that Karl captured the dog ending on c4 with caMel allowed him to chose where to let the Dog blocking its path to d2. He chosen c3 rather to d4. That allowed trade of dogs and two Cats for a horse. Jean ended with multiple pieces, but of lower quality (essentially two dogs for two cats and a rabbit). In middle game Jean fought space advantage, but Karl defended well and Jean lost rabbit at 33g. On 34g Karl pulled silver rabbit ending with caMel on f4 rather to g5. Jean spent whole turn to safe the rabbit, but it let his cat vulnerable as a capture threat. Jean saved the cat but it let his camel vulnerable for capture in two turns (see the diagram). Karl had probably crushing move to pull a6 rabbit to a5 and camel push to f5, but he played safe the naturaly looking flip to e3. This essentialy lead to camel trade, making the lead by two dogs to two cats more important. The other move seems to end either by camel capture or by goal through the d file (Oops unfreezing the a4 rabbit would fire west attack again. The three step move not pulling to a5 would be better, or rather capturing the b6 rabbit ending on b5 with no camel attack?). After the exchange Karl had east space advantage requiring to be matched by Jeans elephant. That would allow west rabbits captures undefendable. Karl went for the d4 rabbit capture in the f3 trap, but its flip to f4 was defended by silver elephant going to e3. That created serious goal threat on the depleted board. The goal attack continued with elephant reaching g3 after 41s. Karl defended with caMel ending on g4 rater to pushing rabbit back to h5 (see the diagram). In either case he was losing at least a rabbit, but ending on g4 allowed the caMel capture by pushing it to f5. Jean missed the oportunity and went for another goal attack through the f3 trap. After the 43s played almost all spectators tought Jean is winning in near future, but Karl found a defense preventing h3 rabbit pull by blocking spaces around the silver elephant. Finally Jean captured the advanced rabbit and Karl the western cat. Karl was forced to defend the attack through the f3 trap by putting his Elephant into the trap. Jean switched wing with his elephant what Karl followed capturing the f4 rabbit in the process. Jean's attacks continued. This time with train of b file rabbits. That would be difficult to stop from the 2nd rank, but Karl found freeze by the Dog positioned on b5. After gold Elephant helped with blocking from the 2nd rank and two more rabbits and the cat were captured, the gold created enough space for its own unstopable goal attack finishing the game at 54g. Bot_sharp found meanwhile that the move Jean used instead of attacking the caMel on 42s allowed gold counterplay by moving gold Elephant to e6 making room at f5 for gold Rabbit by pulling the f5 rabbit to e5, but now it seems to me silver would won the goal fight by freezing the rabbit with cat (and unfreezing the h4 rabbit by the h5 rabbit).

Harren x Tuks, after 8s (Gold to move)

This was fight among two Daniel's having the last life in the turnament. First action come from silver pulling the gold Horse to b4 with the camel. Gold responded by the Rabbit charge to a4 unfreezing the Horse. Silver horse managed to push the Rabbit to a5 before being taken hostage by the gold Elephant. Gold were preparing himself to retake the hostage by the caMel, but silver managed to use the Rabbit to block the gold Elephant on west (see the diagram). Gold was pulling the horse east, but that allowed Rabbit pull to c3 separating the silver horse from the gold caMel. At 18s silver could block the gold Elephant and caMel definitely. The blockade would include one of each kind of silver pieces at the start, while gold Horses and Dogs would not be included. The silver camel could be quickly rotated out from the blockade creating the strongest free piece in entire board. Silver chosen not to create permanent blockade, but rather use the tempo to capture pieces. That released the gold Elephant, but a gold Rabbit and a gold Dog were captured and the gold Horse hostaged. The gold Elephant remained tight to the c3 defense what allowed the Horse capture as well. When the gold Elephant left to make material threats against the silver horse and later camel, silver ignored the threat and made a room for goal maneuver by flipping the b3 Cat to b5 (that created caMel capture threat with the caMel the only strong defender around c3). Several captures of gold pieces followed on west with only one silver rabbit captured. When the gold Elephant returned to defend c3, strong goal threat at east appeared. At 39g at a lost position gold timeouted.
