2009 Saturday Swiss Tournaments
As part of the effort to increase the number of Human vs. Human Arimaa games on the website, a recurring series of one-day Saturday Swiss Tournaments will be held beginning on 31 October 2009. Games will begin at 08:00 PST allowing everyone from the West Coast of North America or Eastern Europe to participate in the same event at a reasonable time. Subsequent rounds begin every 90 minutes if the time control is 30 seconds per move, or 120 minutes apart if the time control is 45 seconds per move. Initial rankings are determined by WHR rating.
The tournament game times are inconvenient for people living in Asia, Australia or New Zealand but new tournaments could be held in the future to accommodate these people if there is sufficient interest.

The first ever Saturday Swiss Tournament was held on Halloween day 2009 and it was effectively a 3-round robin as only four players entered. Adanac won the inaugural tournament with 3 wins.

The second Saturday Swiss tournament was held two weeks after the inaugural tournament. Adanac placed first with 4 wins with a three-way tie for 2nd between froody, woh and Manuel.
